You may need a mesh fence repair for a number of reasons. During the storm, a tree fell on the mesh fence, the netting could break under the weight of the tree, or, even worse, in the case of high strength mesh fence collapsed poles, which will disrupt the structure of the entire fence. Regardless of the reasons that push you to repair, do not despair, the fence made of wire mesh can be repaired with the help of one assistant. Repair, as well as the construction of fences, is relatively easy.
Step 1. Search for damage
You must carefully examine both sides of the fence, in a place where there is obvious damage. Check load-bearing posts, gates and mounting beams. Find and collect all the items you will need to repair or replace the damaged part of the fence.
Step 2. Remove the damaged fence
Cut the damaged horizontal log log into pieces with a hacksaw. Remove these pieces through a wire chain.
Step 3. Take measurements and buy new items if needed
Use the measurement of the virgin part of the fence to find out the standard length of the horizontal log for the fence. Count the number of load-bearing fence posts on which you will need to hang a new wire cover to get the length of mesh you will need.
Measure the thickness of the horizontal beam. If you need to replace the horizontal beam, buy the appropriate size. If the load-bearing posts or gates are damaged, take one of the items with you to get the right size at the store. Also, check if you may need a new mesh and fence paint. Stretched and torn wire mesh fence needs to be replaced. You can buy additional fasteners in a hardware store.
Step 4. Remove and replace the damaged mesh fence and load-bearing columns as needed
Remove the horizontal log in the segment with damaged load-bearing columns, the fence made of netting is very repairable. Remove the old load-bearing column and install a new one, then install a horizontal beam.
Step 5. Installation of a new horizontal fence beam
Remove the fasteners from the nearest support post, then remove the bracket group and loosen the wire mesh. Push the horizontal beam into the opening that goes in the direction you want it to go. After that establish on a bearing column of fastening, restore brackets and a wire mesh tension.
Step 6. Restoration of a wire mesh
While you are restoring the fasteners on the nearest support post, ask someone to help you hold the undamaged area of the mesh and post while you attach the mesh to the new post. Pass a soft nylon thread through the net to help you create tension. Pay attention to the undamaged section of the wire fence to make sure that all fasteners are firmly installed and in the appropriate positions before you start tensioning. Pay attention to the tension of the vertical thread of the fence, which, in case of correct tension, should be parallel to the supporting column. Reconnect the horizontal tension strips to the vertical tension strips and the vertical fence brackets to the horizontal beam.
Step 7. Communication of a wire mesh
Monitor the technical condition of the connecting grids. You should check their condition in the spring, after heavy snowfalls, and after heavy storms, during which there is a risk of falling trees. Even if the trees fell far from the house or garage, the damage to the fence at any point will reduce the stability of the entire fence.
