The chain-link wire mesh is perhaps one of the simplest and most affordable materials for fencing a garden plot.
A fence made of such a mesh is durable, and its installation is very simple: load-bearing wires are attached to the posts at regular intervals, and the netting itself is simply tied to them, having previously fixed at each end.
So that the tension of the net does not weaken, the posts are dug into the ground by 1/3 of their height.
At a high fence (on concrete pillars), it is advisable to attach the ends of the mesh to the wall. But this can also be avoided by strengthening the pillars with supports. The distance between the posts depends on the height of the fence. For a chain-link mesh with a height of one and a half meters, the posts are placed at a distance of no more than 2 m, and the posts with tension couplings are no further than 8 m from each other.
The chain-link mesh is produced with cells of various shapes, which, however, does not play any role in its installation. Except for the aesthetic part. If it is necessary to build up the finished roll, it is better to place the junction at the post, but you can connect the mesh pieces with metal rods, which is easier than fastening individual cells together with wire.
- To avoid sagging of the mesh, tension sleeves are placed every 8 m. For uniform tension of the mesh along the entire height, a metal strip is inserted into the extreme row of cells, which is then attached to the post.
- To avoid unraveling of the cells and not to injure themselves on the sharp ends of the wire, they are linked together and bent with pliers.
- After installing the posts, lay the supporting wire (cable), fasten it with brackets to the posts and pull it evenly.
- Roll out the mesh and pre-attach it to the post, not stretched, and then pull it by the strip inserted into the extreme cells and finally fasten it.
- The mesh is tied to the carrier wire every 20 cm with pieces of soft wire.
